What Happens in Vegas… ends up on the Blog

Top Restaurants in Las Vegas

About a month ago I took a trip with three of my girl friends to Las Vegas in celebration of a 40th birthday. It’s been a looonnnggg time since I’ve been in Vegas and the last time I was there I was turning 32 and it was a whirlwind 24 hour trip filled with business meetings (Kyle), shopping and sightseeing (me) and a ride on the New York Hotel’s roller coaster. Needless to say I was pretty excited to get back there an visit with friends, enjoy some time by the pool and eat at some good restaurants. I’m sure, by now, you’ve figured out that I’m going to see how many states I can eat my way through this year. So far I’ve made it through Bentonville, AR and Kansas City, MO.

Since we were able to find some great restaurants while we were there, I thought I’d be nice and share them with you since they were all delicious, from ambiance to food and I would recommend them all. It doesn’t always happen that way so it looks like we’re all in luck!

Holsteins Shakes and Burgers

This restaurant is located in the Cosmopolitan Hotel on the 2nd floor of the hotel shops, across from the Rent the Runway store. We popped in after our Rent the Runway stylist appointments and we were starved. The menu was great and had a lot of options, but we opted to split several appetizers, which were delicious and more than filling. I highly recommend the Ahi Tuna. Although they do say that their burgers are made from some bad ass cows, so maybe give them a try too!

Oh my gosh, I cannot rave enough about this restaurant! From the friendly and attentive wait staff to the talented chef, we had an incredible time at dinner. The chef even came out at several points in our meal, spoiling us with specialty dishes that he created. We ended up closing the restaurant down we were having such a wonderful time eating and drinking. Some of my favorites from the evening were the potatoes au gratin of the sides menu and the pork belly appetizer. Both were fantastic! If you’re in Las Vegas, you must visit STRIPSTEAK at the Mandalay Bay Hotel.

Citizens Kitchen and Bar

Since we were in Las Vegas celebrating my girl friends 40th birthday, which kept us out late the first night we really wanted a spot where we could experience brunch even with a late start the next day. We had walked by Citizens the day before on our way out to the hotel pool and made note to pop back by because they served coffee and pastries all day long. Little did we know that they also serve breakfast and lunch on one side of the restaurant and then they serve dinner on the other. I loved this concept so much! The breakfast/lunch side was lined with green tiles and vintage black and white photos, which the dinner side had more of a formal appeal. Brunch was fantastic + the coffee was great! I’m really picky about my regular, no frou frou added coffee, but theirs had a fantastic taste. This is definitely a spot I would hit up again in a heart beat if I find myself back in Las Vegas.

Fleur by Hubert Keller

If you’re looking for a more exotic meal that will make you feel as though you’ve travelled the world in one sitting, then Fleur is a great choice. We enjoyed dinner on our last evening in Las Vegas and were impressed by both the menu options and the flavors of the meal. While I went the safe route and opted for an American choice dinner, some of my girlfriends chose some of the European options. Our only complaint (and it’s a big one) was that this restaurant is Tapas style (which I love), but the Ahi Tacos were so small they were the size of my pinky finger and for the price, we found it a bit overpriced. Now it wasn’t everything we ordered, but that was not a highlight of our evening. While my sliders and parmesan fries were delicious, my favorite part of the meal was the chocolate soufflé, when done right, you can never go wrong.

Overall we loved our time in Las Vegas, we relaxed by the pool, enjoyed good food and great company. The only spot I didn’t make it to that I would’ve loved to eat was WILD. Oh and I would’ve loved to see Britney Spears live…. well there’s always next time, right?

I’d love to hear any recommendations you might have. Be sure to leave them in the comments.

xo, Alissa
