Last week we had the opportunity to take the kids to see Disney on Ice’s Rockin Every After show at the Honda Center here in Southern California. With the busyness of the season, the hubs and I felt it would be such a great way to surprise the kids on their last week of school and right before we headed out of town for Christmas. Let me tell you, it was so hard to keep it a secret, but I knew that if we told them too soon, they wouldn’t be able to focus at school and we’d never hear the end of it a home. I’m sure none of you know anything about that, hehe. The show was INCREDIBLE!!!! From the time we walked into the Honda Center, we were overstimulated by the smell of popcorn, cotton candy, snow cones and the sights and sounds of Disney princesses everywhere. There were dolls, toys, spinning lights and even fun photo booths to get your picture taken at.

We had the chance to see Disney on  Ice in Long Beach over the summer and our kids fell in love with the show. You may not know this, but once upon a time I was a competitive ice skater, so any excuse to get close to the ice, I’ll take. Maybe if this whole blogging thing doesn’t work out, I could use this as my back up plan. Come on, who doesn’t want to play a princess?

The show was 2 hours long and it included a short reprise of The Little Mermaid, Tangled, Brave and Beauty and the Beast, beginning and ending with a Christmas celebration with Mickey and Minnie and the gang. This is the first time we’ve seen Tangled and Brave on ice and it was hard to decide which of them was my new favorite.

I felt myself getting a little teary at the end of each story as each women’s dreams came to life. It reminded me a lot of myself and how sometimes you just need to have a little courage, take the leap and follow your dreams. After all, sometimes we’re the biggest stoppers in our own journeys. I asked Katelyn and her favorite part of the show was The Little Mermaid on ice! The stunts they did flying through the air, with ice skates on no less, were so amazing to watch. Both kids were on the edge of their seats, eyes glued to the ice. Now Katelyn wants to take up ice skating, which makes this momma so filled with joy. I’m resisting the urge to take her this week and sign her up for lessons. Ok maybe I’ll wait till we get back form Boston.

This holiday season it’s scheduled to show at the Staples Center, Honda Center, Ontario and the Long Beach Arena and it really would make a wonderful gift for your little ones. Sometimes it’s nice to be able to get out of the house, put aside work and the stress of the holidays and make memories with your kids.

If you’re looking for something fun to do with your kids during the holidays, check out the venue’s and dates where the show is still playing. You can buy tickets HERE.
