Celebrate this Father’s Day with Share a Coke
Father’s Day is a special time of year for us. Not just because I married an amazing man, who has since become an amazing father to our children. Seven years ago Father’s Day became more than the one day a year we celebrate Dads, it signified the day that Kyle became a Dad. Yes, 7 years ago on June 15th, Father’s Day, our daughter Katelyn was born at 11:44pm. Labor didn’t go as we planned and our little girl’s precious heart rate dropped during the customary 30 minute turn from one side to the other that happens once you’ve had an epidural. The playlist that had everything from our favorite upbeat songs to songs we played at our wedding faded into the background as beeping noises and the rush of nurses running in to the room became more prevalent.
I have no idea how, in that moment, Kyle remained so calm and stayed my rock. I was panicked, tired, shaking and being rushed from labor and delivery to the OR for a C-section. After “suiting up” he came and sat by me, softly brushing my hair with his fingers reminding me it was all going to be ok and that even though this wasn’t our plan, that our sweet baby girl, Katelyn Renee, would be here soon to join our family. I was so ready to be done. Labor had started around eleven that morning and now it was after 11pm and I’m on oxygen, shaking from the epidural pumping through me and laying on a table in an OR.
Before I knew it, Kyle was leaning up over the makeshift curtain, watching with wide-eyed curiosity as our baby girl popped her head out. I could see his eyes start to water as he watched the doctor deliver our baby girl. He stood and went to her the moment they asked him if he wanted to cut the umbilical cord and never left her side as they cleaned her up. I will never forget the look of pride as he held her for the first time as doctors and nurses wished him a Happy Father’s Day.
Since that day he and Katelyn have shared a special bond and he constantly reminds her that she was the best gift he ever received on Father’s Day. She made him a Daddy.
Every year we love to get together with family and friends and celebrate Father’s Day, but more importantly family. Katelyn’s arrival on Father’s Day made us a family of three and began a whole, new wonderful chapter of our lives. For us, there’s nothing more important than carving out the time to create long lasting memories as a family. This year we’re celebrating Father’s Day and endless summer days with a “Share a Coke,” perfect for celebrating life’s most sharable moments. Being that we’re a Coca Cola family, I thought it would be fun to create Coke floats for our summertime Father’s Day celebration. I love that I was able to order bottles that captured memories we wanted to create this summer. Time to celebrate, be in the pool and have adventures. If you have that special someone in your life, celebrate by showing them how much you love them by gifting them with a “Share a Coke” bottle that tells them how you feel about them.
If you’re looking for a great recipe, here’s the one for our simple Summertime Celebration Coke Float.
• Coca Cola
• Vanilla ice cream
• Whipped Cream
Mix it up:
Grab a fun mug and fill it ¾ way with Coke. Add a scoop of ice cream and top your ice cream with a sprinkle of cinnamon, fresh whipped cream and top it with sprinkles. Then Enjoy!
How do you celebrate sharable moments with friends and family?
